Design and New Media – the Croatian Context (1995 – 2010)

Abstract

The development of new media design in Croatia was analyzed in a wider global context. Featured works are analyzed through three main phases, the initial phase of the joy of new media, the phase of establishment of mainstream media production standards to the reflexive phase called “design without design”.

Projects range from early HTML works created in the mid-nineteen nineties, via works from the beginnings of the 21st century and Flash sites from the mid-two thousands to recent examples of the integration of technologies.

In addition to websites, selected projects include computer games, robotics and interactive installations and more.
